
Lumiel is a graduate of Washington State University, and began work in the field of Oriental Medicine in 1988 as a Foot Reflexologist. The following year she added a certificate in massage therapy to her credentials and began formal studies at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego.
In 1993 she graduated Summa Cum Laude from Pacific College with a Master's Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine. She is licensed to practice in both California and Hawai`i.
In 2003 she became certified as an Educator in Hanna Somatics. Drawing on her experience as a Montessori teacher, she developed a series of lectures on Chinese Medicine, health and wellness. She teaches for the College of Marin in Kentfield, in community education programs, and for the City College of San Francisco.
She earned a Clinical Doctorate degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, one of the finest acupuncture and Oriental medicine programs of study in the country.
She has trained with Qi Gong master Luke Chan both in China and the U.S, and became the first certified teacher of Chi Lel Qi Gong in Hawai`i in 1997. She incorporates Qi Gong into treatments for children, needle-shy adults, and for specific problems.
